Leyden Energy was founded in 2007 to develop a high-performance lithium ion cell based on a technology patent wholly acquired from chemical giant Dupont. This technology served as the foundation for subsequent Leyden Energy research that led to the Li-imidetm chemistry platform: a heat resistant, energy-dense, durable battery cell technology that is now Leyden Energy’s core offering. Li-imide is ideal for mobile consumer electronics and electric vehicles (EVs).
With its focus on innovative, high quality people, Leyden Energy has assembled a world-class, global team of internationally accredited scientists and engineers to push the envelope of Li-ion-based energy storage, focusing on a silicon-anode (Si-Anode) chemistry for mobile consumer electronics (such as tablets or smartphones) and a low-cost lithium-titanium oxide (LTO) chemistry for Start-Stop vehicle Li-ion batteries. Leyden Energy’s technology addresses many of the fundamental safety and stability issues of traditional Li-ion chemistry, with longer cycle life and lifespan at higher temperatures than legacy chemistries can tolerate, as well as higher energy density.
